Gerotor pumps can handle an extremely wide range of fluids from gasoline to high viscosity chemicals, and can be optimized to meet a diverse array of operational and performance requirements. Gerotor pumps are used in virtually every major equipment market including commercial aircraft engines, power generation equipment, chemical transfer and metering equipment, hydraulic power equipment, passenger vehicles, and heavy-duty mobile equipment.
The Gerotor is a study in simple kinematics: the rotation of two conjugately formed profiles, whose centerlines are positioned at a fixed eccentricity. The expanding pockets create a vacuum causing fluid to be drawn into the pump. As rotation continues, these pockets expand and eventually reach their maximum volume, at which point fluid becomes sealed-off from the inlet side of the pump. Further rotation causes the pocket volume to decrease forcing the fluid out through the discharge port.
